Our Story

Founded in 2020, Broad Books is a business on a mission; to bring back the paperback (well, and the hardback too). These are not just any old books though; these are second-hand books!

We’re thinking big, or you might say broad. We want to help you discover a wide selection of books you might never have otherwise read in a sustainable, interesting and convenient way.

The Fine Print

Our Goal

We are here to Treat Yo Shelves. Ok, ok, we want to broaden your bookshelves, by giving you access to different books offline, and by giving secondhand books a whole new life with you.

Our Promise

Reading is important; it’s literally our business! Because of this, we will donate 10% of all profits to a selection of our favourite literacy charities to encourage further reading in children and adults.

Our Team

We care about sharing great books with YOU. We are a start-up with a small (lovely!) team, and promise to always put our customers (hi!) first. If you ever have an issue, just let us know and we will fix it.

Our Books

Bookish and busy! We are passionate, sustainable readers; books you get will be pre-loved, though we will always make sure they are in sensible, readable, and sanitised condition.

A lifelong book-lover and avid reader, our founder Lizzie was tired of feeling like getting through the must-reads was a competition.

Thus, Broad Books was born!

“Trying to keep up with the latest best sellers and stay connected to the instagram book clubs, while travelling weekly for a busy corporate job felt exhausting; like a reading rat race!”

“To avoid this, I started hunting through stacks of second hand books and this quickly became my favourite hobby. I discovered new authors and books that I would never have otherwise read. When I started sharing the books with my friends, these discoveries prompted an idea; that there should be a more convenient way to get hold of secondhand books.” Lizzie, our founder

Broad Books was set up to help you (and our team) rediscover the joy of reading , alongside, or instead of, e-readers and online bookclubs, as a slower, broader way to read.
